Here are the updated trailer cushions which were picked up last night. The owner was very pleased.

This last photo is of my son with a young robin that flew into our garage and could not find a way out. Andrew spent half an hour in there and finally caught it.
Poor robin was frightened and now my garage floor is covered with green poo!
I have been enjoying my gardens lately – weeding, transplanting, watering,… So I thought I would take advantage of the setting for some new shots of my recent work.
Here are some pretty pillows made for a friend with invisible zippers and funky beaded trim!
The following pillows were made to sell to the public in eye catching grey/black/cream.
All are made with down inserts and invisible zippers.
More work to do now so I hope to be back tomorrow to show you the redo on some trailer cushions – but I want the owner to see them first!
Here are the before and after photos of that big pile of cushions you last saw on my dining room table. They have made a lovely change to the newly carpeted sunroom ! This post will be quick as I have 2 new possible customers coming to see me today as a result of the kijiji ad I posted with the recovered photos last week!
I had to post the photo I took of the recovered cushions for the rattan set mentioned in my last post. I took this photo of everything all lined up on my dining room table.
My customers quote “Hi Brenda . The cushions were a perfect fit and you did an amazing job. We just sat in awe with our drink to toast our new makeover. Some pics to come for sure. We will be in touch. Thanks so much for a great job on our set.” Angela and Steve
Here they are on my table – can hardly wait to see a picture in their newly renovated room!

I also posted this photo on kijiji and had 100 hits in just over a day. Now just waiting for more orders of this type!
I am very pleased with these two matching working roman shades and valances for my customer’s home. The valances were piped with the shade fabric for contrast. They are made from 3 separate pieces which I cut to size using my pizza stone! I use many different items from my kitchen to get the right sizing in sewing projects.
It is a shame the shades could not be patterned exactly the same – but I had only 1 length of fabric to work with, and could not get 2 repeats widthwise. You just have to use what you are given. Still very pretty I think.

Now back to the sewing room!
Happy Easter everyone.
(next time I will close the bathroom door before clicking)
I now have in my possession the 3 piece rattan set I mentioned yesterday. I have 12 pieces to recover with piping and zippers. A few of them need a bit of extra care as it seems there may have been a cat clawing at them! The most exciting part about this job is that the customer lives in Peterborough! (Almost 1 hour away from me). Before photos below:

The baby quilt top posted yesterday now has a cool backing to go with it – at least I think it’s cool ! This is one way to fix a backing that is narrower than the front.
This spring is shaping up into a busy time ! I have just finished sewing the top of a baby quilt and decided I needed to post a photo. It is made from leftover wonky stars that I swapped with some of my flickr partners from my last 2 bees. My customer/friend saw them laying around and immediately wanted them for her first grandbaby’s quilt! We put together some colours that will coordinate with the room colours and this is what we have so far.
Not the best photo but you get the idea.
I also completed the lining on a wool coat with fur lining which turned out better than I hoped for.
It was a big change from the previous fuchsia lining. That shredded lining was photographed in my last post. The grey zipper will be the next thing replaced – with a cream coloured 2 way zipper. A 2 way is important in this coat because of the length – sitting puts a strain on the bottom and has ruined it – so now when the wearer goes to sit down the bottom can be unzipped to the hips to allow enough ease and longer wear for the zipper.
Well, off to refuel before my afternoon of sheers, new customer, and a dropoff of 12 cushions to be recovered for a rattan 2 piece set – “before” photos to follow later this week.
Just a quick note today to let the local folks know that I can get almost any colour of zipper from my supplier. The photo below has the new zipper in it – purple separating – to give the coat another life.
You do have to be patient though, as my supplier is online and that means we have to wait for it to be delivered!
new purple zipper for a coat worth keeping a while longer.
Now a sneak preview to a project I will be starting tomorrow…
I am trying very hard to keep up with photographing my work this year – that is where I fall down every time. Then I look back at what I have done and end up not posting as I have no pictures to show off.
So here are two of my latest works.
The first photo is of a journal cover I made for my custom orders with drawings, measurements, and other details. It was a Pampered Chef binder which needed improvement in my opinion. The fabrics are all Australian and were given to me by my sister after one of her numerous trips to see our brother and family in Sydney.
The second photo is of a simple valance made for a custom order. There were also 5 roman shades and 1 more valance – but I will post those once they are up in their proper home! It has 2 seams as it is 65″ wide – email me if you find them!
So, I have been away from blogland since Christmas but very busy with work and family. Being sick at Christmas and the two weeks before was not much fun – but all is well now. I have lots of jobs lined up already so I feel positive about the year!
I made a “resolution” to get more quilts done this year and use up some of the stash just sitting here. My first quilt for the year is for my daughter who will be leaving us for University in the fall! Wow, I feel old and sad and happy at the same time. Just another one of those milestones parents have to contend with/be proud of.
So, I started putting together these 25 patch scrap blocks two years ago and decided it was time to get it out of the way. I feel great that I have this done – it came from mostly s(crap) – she loves all the bright colours in it – and I get to check off number 1 on my list of sewing/quilting projects! I also took on the quilting with my own machine – not a long arm, and love the way the squiggly lines look in the variegated Lava thread used.
